POLEN
Polen began on the streets of Washington, D.C. in 2010. She started by photographing her friends painting and shortly after that she picked up a can and hasn’t turned back. Graffiti helped her embrace a feminine style, and along with her girlfriend, who started painting at the same time, she took that style to the streets. The two felt as though they had to rebel and stand out from the male dominated bombing they saw around them. Polen paints a lot of hearts and love letters to the cities she visits. She is progressing towards larger scale murals and loves to bring color to what can be the drab concrete jungle of the east coast.
